Game Vision Statement

Hey guys!
Today I worked on a vision statement for my project.
using guidelines from this article.
it helped me develop more ideas for my game and has helped me improve my knowledge on Genre and style of game.

I am sticking with a small archery game but have decided to make it an against the clock game to try and increase replay ability and enjoyment, I hope peoples competitive nature will make this game more like-able

  1. Hiii Eoin! First comment on your blog, yay. I read your previous post, so good job on finding tutorials that will basically take you from start to finish of the archery project, its a really smart move... You won't have to struggle like me with adding in inventory for 6 hours... The idea of your game is kinda cool... and achievable, especially with the tutorials. And! Good thing is that there should be a lot of assets on the store that you can use.
    Good luck! And keep doing them posts and get some extra credits, even if you don't like them that much.

  2. Hey Eoin!

    I like the sound of your game. An archery game against the clock sounds very challenging and fun. Are there many tutorials out there that are specifically for archery games on unity? You have hit the jackpot if there is! As Ada has said, there is probably a tonne of cool assets you could use. Are you going to add in custom characters or even a custom bow? Maybe we can unlock bows with better score, that would be cool!

    I hope it all goes well for you, I will defintely be keeping up to date with your blogs to see how your progress is coming along.

    Good luck!

  3. Hi Eoin, good to see you have a cool Idea for you game. The idea of archery is a unique one indeed. While its a mechanic found in other games, I think making a whole game out of the concept is great idea. It could be more physics based or something that requires skill or can be a fun minigame too. Looking at the other comments, they seem to agree that its a good idea too. It seems like a simple game to make and play but something effective and fun. Hope it goes well man. Goodluck!

MD2Final GDD

Hey guys! hope everyone had a good week, this week as part of the Audio team I was tasked with creating a list of essential audio to present to Chris and James. The list goes as follows: General ambience Planes birds gunfire fire wind rain war-cries soldiers chanting soldiers marching character specific  breathing walking dialogue injured noises specific to weapons reload gunshots (upon research I found 3 specific weaponry that was commonly used during the 1916 rising) bullet impact (miss) bullet impact (success) empty clip interact noises door item collection item delivery ammo collection weapon pickup Thanks to Ian Cudmore! for suggesting the use of  BBCs sound effect files  which features a lot of the sounds necessary to our project although I don't want to use just assets created by other artists I look forward to creating a lot of them on my own ! Talking to Chris, James and Trevor on the aspect of music we all agreed that when ...

Unity Tutorial 05

Hey, Today I watched a reviewed unity tutorial 9 , 10 and 11 . Unity tutorial 9 was an interesting introduction to sky boxes, lighting and wind zones. sky boxes seem to be very aesthetically pleasing. Using the TGU sky box pack the person doing the tutorial brought in many templates to use for the sky which effected lighting in the world. using certain settings he was able to increase decrease lighting, shadows textures. the wind zones was an interesting look and i learned that using wind zones you can create a sense of movement in trees and grass. but you can also change it so that when you are within a certain radius the trees and grass will then react to your presence. secondly i watched unity tutorial 10. this tutorial thought us how to pick up a weapon and how to use fade screens. using the code public class we wrote for the Collection of the gem, we can copy and paste this to allow us to collect our axe. Then we learned how to do fade screens. fade screens are prett...
